Abstract: this paper aims to reflect on the concepts of peace and war starting from the analysis of Sergio Cotta’s Introduction to the work Dalla Guerra alla Pace written in 1989. The purpose of these reflections is to highlight and discuss the considerable conceptual ambivalences of most relevant tendencies of current pacifism according to Cotta, showing through a reflection on the origin of law the need to found seriously peace on the investigation of human existence.
