Abstract: the papers aims at highlighting the possible application of Alternative Transferable Vote in Italy. This electoral system, used in Australia, could contribute to greater voter empowerment and renewed protagonism in the of the voter and to a renewed protagonism in the determination of the choices of political representation in determining the choices of political representation, favouring at the same time a renewal of the party system and greater governability.
